Vintage Silvertone Archtop

From the collection These are the guitars

Vintage Silvertone Archtop

I found this guitar serving as a decoration on top of a beverage cooler at Kiskadee Coffee on Main St in Plymouth. It was just a body, neck, and tailpiece at the time.  I talked the owner into selling it to me, took it home, and started working on resurrecting it:

- Replaced the brass frets with new nickle medium jumbo frets.  Leveled the fretboard in the process (this guitar has no truss rod).

- Carved a bridge out of a piece of Ebony, milled a slot in it for a compensated bone saddle

- Installed some StewMac Golden Age tuners

- Cut a hole in the top and installed a dog-ear P90 pickup, along with volume and tone controls.

These guitars were churned out by the Harmony factory in Chicago for decades. Nothing on this to indicate when it was manufactured but I would guess sometime in the 1960's. It has a pretty aggressive radius on the fretboard. Lots of vintage vibe and mojo, great sound both acoustic and plugged in.
