Fender Telecaster

From the collection These are the guitars

Fender Telecaster

When I bought this guitar it was black with a maple fretboard. It had a Gibson burstbucker at the neck and a Seymour Duncan Antiquity Tele pickup in the bridge.

I stripped off the black poly and refinished it in Sonic Blue using nirocellulose laquer from Guitar ReRanch.

I swapped the neck for a Warmouth compound radius neck with medium profile and a Pao Ferro fretboard, which I also stained and finished in nitro (from ReRanch).

I replaced the bridge with a Joe Bardon compensated 3-saddle bridge.

I struggled a bit getting a great sound from the mix of humbucker and single coils. At one point I tried using concentric pots with one 500k (for the humbucker) and one with 250k (for the single coil). which sounded great except the middle position with both pickups was pretty lame.  My friend and guitar wizard Aaron Belyea suggested using 500K pots in a typical Tele setup but with a treble bleed circuit on the bridge pickup (capacitor and resistor in parallel to ground). Not sure what values he used but this worked really well so that's where it sits today.
