1977 Takamine F307 (Martin 00-18 copy)
Sometime in the early 1980's my friend Rick Micheaux let me borrow this guitar. He had broken his arm playing football and couldn't play it at the time. He moved away and never asked for it back so I still have it. The first "real" guitar in my collection and I'm not sure I actually own it (Rick, let me know if you want it back!).
This is a nice, well-made copy of a Martin 00-18 guitar, with great action and playability. I replaced the tuners with Grover Sta-Tites. It has a plywood top so very stable. I took this with me when I was stationed on the USS Columbus (SSN762) so it's been to sea in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, through the Panama Canal, across the Equator, up near the Arctic Circle, and down to test depth in a nuclear fast-attack submarine.
"Born-on" date stamped on one of the top braces: Sept 14, 1977
My youngest daughter now has this guitar with her in college and she sounds great playing it.
